Even the upcoming Debian 12 Bookworm doesn't seem to have Docker Compose v2 available at all, so we could recommend installing the upstream Docker Engine packages instead.

Because v1 and v2 are mostly compatible, if we keep using the docker-compose command (instead of docker compose) we should be able to support both for the time being. compose-switch can be used to translate v1 commands to v2 commands. This is enabled by default in recent Docker Desktop versions.
