For HNVC, you can make it so that it clones the desktop. On the taskbar, select the Task view icon, then select New desktop. You can be on the new desktop while they would be on the previous one.

Would there be any real advantage to using the VirtualDesktopManager vs the CreateDesktop api? I feel like it would be a trade off between being really hidden or being more compatible, though I haven't tested it, so I don't know how much more compatible it would be
