noticed a lot of people have issues or dont know how to use it so i thought id make a quick guide

how to use xeno rat:

  1. download xeno rat from releases
  2. make sure av (antivirus) doesnt mess it up
  3. open your router settings and make a port forwarding rule (if you dont know how to do this google "how to port forward on [insert your router here]
  4. open wf.msc and add an inbound rule for the port youll be using
  5. open xeno and build a client (make sure av doesnt mess it up either)
  6. set the listening port to the one you are forwarding on (notice: do not use 4444 or 80 as these may be detected and spread malware)
  7. if windows firewall asks what to allow connections on select private networks then ok
  8. notice for client: if you want to use it on your own computer or computers on the same wifi network as you, use your local ipv4 address which you can find in cmd by typing in "ipconfig". if for other computers, use your public ip address
  9. if your public ip is dynamic (which means it will change and make you lose clients), use a ddns service like duckdns
10.if youre under cgnat (where you dont get your own ip address and share it with other people), you wont be able to make connections. solution? use a vpn or portmap or playit.gg or something
  10. execute client
  11. thats it. hope this helps

another notice: with a ddns, use your ddns domain in place of the ip.
another notice 2: if you see any errors when you try to use it on other computers, its problably an av issue.
yet another notice: using it on a vm on your computer will also work using local ipv4
another notice yet again: same thing goes for other rats

comment any questions on these steps if you got any

If I've done the port forwarding on my side, but on the other PC, which is on a different network to mine, I haven't done the port forwarding, is that supposed to work or not?

@LeDromadaire only YOU need port forwarding. the client doesn't need to port forward. they just need to open the ratted file and a connection is made.
