This is also different from deleting a task, which just nukes it out of existence.
Marking a task as abandoned can be useful for reporting purposes, for instance.
Has this been considered? Couldn't find any issue with "abandoned" or "cancelled".

Actually perhaps that's a good idea idea. It could be a task status. I have been using the rm command to close a task as abandoned.
rm
Semantics: isn't, resolved might not mean completed, just no longer open. Abandoning a task could be considered resolving it... 🤔
