Contra #1 , I actually like that the in-game currency is fiat – it plays nicely with the "Monopoly money" (FIAT) buying concrete assets (Cryptos) metaphor.
Instead of using $ to refer to the fiat currency, though, why not just use a generic currency like regular Monopoly does?
I propose the use of the double-struck capital F character, 𝔽, to serve in place of $.
as in:
Pass GO, collect 𝔽200
