We suspect it is a product of my github username (and therefore the forked repo's name) containing my uniqname (so it gets substituted by *** as a secret)

It appears the issue was due to the need for backslashes before special characters in the secret fields

Was you error at the secrets field? Because I am getting an error for the architecture line.

line 14: unexpected EOF while looking for matching `''.
This is what I am getting. The line talks about the optional SSID password.
