We have had a few reports of the bot not being able to do anything upon joining the server.

I don't think the bot should be granted "admin" upon joining, but its probably worth considering to avoid confusion. If we do go this route, we would need to be careful to ensure that users understand that they will need to remove permissions when they want to lock the bot down to specific channels, etc.

Alternatively, we could investigate a more-permissive, non-admin role, but I think it would probably need permissions to view and post in all channels. So, even with a custom non-admin role I think we will have a similar issue on lock-down instructions.
