when trying to add a keyboard shortcut, none of the key combinations appear

Hello I'm trying to add a keyboard shortcut for click for button 4, but when I do, it asks me to type the keyboard shortcut, the modifier keys show up as i type them but not the actual keys,

example
cmd + shift + 1

only cmd shows up in the app

It doesnt register the key presses and therefore nothing gets saved, I hope someone can help, I have reinstalled the app with no sucess, running Seqouia 15.0.1 (24A348)
