NodeUp: A Selling Node At Your Company Show #33

This would be a wildly helpful show. I would love to hear On Wed, Feb 19, 2014 at 3:31 AM, Gergely Nemeth [email protected]:

I helped to bring Node.js to Box.com (a former PHP shop) and would be happy to share that experience. I was actually scheduled to give a talk at Node Summit last December on this exact subject, but sadly had to cancel at the last second. It was definitely a roller coaster though, and I learned a ton from it. Would be happy to share :) |

+1 for @FredKSchott speaking on the topic. |
➕ @jeffharrell and @davglass (Jeff doing this show does not in any way preclude NodeUp Teams: PayPal that we totally need to create an issue for too.) I'm thinking April for both of these, no? 🌴 |
Also, NodeUp Teams: Yahoo! and NodeUp Teams: Box need to happen. |
@dshaw Let me know when and where and I'm there. We definitely had to do a lot of selling to bring node to PayPal. |
Private npm and performance monitoring would be good topics. Also, a mention of npm shrinkwrap might be good for ops that want to freeze the code before deploy. Service registry options (etcd, zookeeper, doozer, consul) might also be good. |
To outsiders, Node.js appears to be a lot of hype, and some still don't take it seriously. What are the best arguments for using node? What are the best resources for conveying those arguments? Where are the performance improvement, workflow enhancement, and cost reduction numbers?
The growth of the Node.js community is dependent on adoption, and adoption by large companies is dependent on internal politics. It would be great to have success stories from people at LinkedIn, Walmart, Groupon, PayPal, etc. These people have been heard from before, but it would be great to have it all in one cohesive NodeUp show.
