Loading a Tait TP9800/9900 portable with a KVL uses an interface module (I believe a TTL to CMOS converter). Using KFDtools, the radio will not keyload. I have a KFD with an MX connector and the 5v power required to power up the adapter box. When loading keys, the radio reboots and the software times out. Have tried COM port settings, baud, etc to no avail.
KFDtools will erase the keys from the radio, but still reboot it and show a timeout error. KFDtools will NOT load any type of key or algo, won't let me view key info, or anything else. When using "Detect MR", the software says "MR Detected". So KFDtools is seeing the radio, but I believe this is an issue of read/write speed or some kind of initialization that the KVL does before pushing the keys to let the TTL/CMOS converter work properly. The radio rebooting could be a symptom of data being pushed too fast, or a lack of "Connecting" (Whatever that does in a KVL) before sending the keys.
Loading keys with a KVL on a TP9900 is slower than other radios such as Motorola or Harris, but it loads every time with no issues and no radio reboots. Thank you for your time.

I'm discussing this with the OP directly - @dbizzness is going to get ahold of a logic analyzer and get some captures for us to figure out whether it's a timing issue or something.
I have been working with the OP as well as he got the hardware (Kfd Nano) from me. Without the Tait adapter in hand it has basically been just trial and error, more error then anything going thru the various firmware and software packages to see if anything was successful in loading a key.
I will have access to a tait radio and adapter starting next Tuesday for a limited time but can assist in this as well if you would like some additional input. I can also verify if an original KFDTOOL will work or not at that time as at least a starting point.
