I’m pleased to announce that version 23.01 of openDCIM is now available. There was a lot of work involved in finding things that no longer worked in PHP 8, or would display errors because of changes in the way that they were called. Lots of libraries had to be updated and migrations completed. I want to thank all that submitted Pull Requests for this version. I also want to thank the community of translators that have expanded the translations into even more language – I don’t even know if they have an interest in openDCIM, but when I pulled from POEditor this time, there were new translations available from a community effort!
Changes in 23.01
Docker Hub has already been updated with the new image and instructions for those using the containerized version.
Actually, that happened last week. However, it took me until this weekend to realize that the announcement didn't go out, and that is due to a lot of factors that came in all at once. First, someone decided to find and exploit in mediaWiki that allowed them to post content without a link, so they turned the wiki into a spam farm. I've been spending time migrating the old wiki content over to GitHub, where they have teams of Cyber Admins that can spend time fending off attacks of stupidity like this. As such, the wiki will now be at https://github.com/opendcim/openDCIM/wiki rather than hosted on my virtual server.
Additionally, with us finally getting this release out, I needed to upgrade the server itself so that it was up to date and running PHP 8. In the process, the installation of MailMan became invalidated, because it was all based on Python 2. Migration to MailMan 3.x is no simple task, so I have decided that going forward, this will be an "Announcement Only" mailing list - meaning that users will have no way to actually post to it for questions and discussions. It will only be for me to state that a release is forthcoming or that it has been packaged up. If you wish to unsubscribe, there is a link in this email to remove yourself. Future discussions can be posted in GitHub, at https://github.com/opendcim/openDCIM/discussions (and announcements will also go there). The main web page is being updated with all of the links to make it easy for folks to find.
Sincerely,
Scott Milliken
