@4SS3 , you can set any geometry ( line or polygon ) from vector layers within your project as a destination feature; when you do that, you will be allow to cycle through the geometry's centroid as well as every single vertex, which would give you the start and end point of a line. |

The position is the red dot. The calculations of the distances to the line should also extend beyond the starting and end points with an indication that the position is outside the boundary points of the line. It is desirable that the stake out function should have support for polylines and polygons. |

I am missing the function for staking out lines and polygons.
I often find myself in the situation where I need to know the distance to a line or a polygon and also the distance to the start and end point of a line or a polygon edge.
Is this function anyone else sees the need for, or is it just me?
