opencilk.org v0.9 soft launch: June 13, 2022

Hi team and welcome to the official discussion channel for the OpenCilk ecosystem. With this inaugural post I'd like to confirm what we discussed in our Friday planning meeting: our new website will go public on June 13.

There are a few things we need to do before we launch the site. On https://github.com/OpenCilk/www.opencilk.org/issues there is a milestone, "Public launch," and you can see here the issues that I have categorized as necessary for that milestone. These include

• Using our custom domain instead of Netlify's
• Fixing the tag pages
• Filling in the remaining info for the Install and Getting started pages
• In the blog, filling in information about our most recent software release (v 1.1 I think)
• In the blog, announcing our next tutorial (if any)
• Verifying the About us page, which describes project leadership, contributors, Academic Board, and Advisory Board, among other things

You can also see here issues that I have named and categorized as not necessary for public launch. One of those, Site analytics, will be done ASAP when we have our domain set up. For the others, I suggest that we plan on a late summer release, which will focus on supporting teachers and will feature things like

• Page about 6.172 that helps teachers decide what they want and need
• cilk_scope vs cilk_sync
