Laser detection problem

Hi Everyone,

I have a dataset with various images from a transect in the Atlantic Ocean. I want to use the laser option because I am interested in biomass. As written in the Manual, I manually annotated some images with the label Laser Label. However, whenever I try to use the Laser option on Biigle it states that "Delphi laser point detection can't be performed. Only 0 images have manually annotated laser points. At least 4 are required." Did anyone have the same problem and know how to fix it?

Hi, do you have multiple laser point labels available in your project/volume? Maybe you mixed up labels? If not, please tell me the volume ID (shown in the URL) so I can have a look.

Hello Martin, thanks for your reply! I only have one label for the laser. Is this one the URL number? (https://biigle.de/volumes/22047) On this transect, I eventually manually annotated all the lasers in the pictures. However, I will have other transects to analyze.

I see that you have annotated the laser points with a line annotation. The automatic detection expects point annotations. This is why it thought there are no reference annotations. While manual annotation will always be the most accurate method, you still have to use point annotations if you want the area calculation to be available in BIIGLE (e.g. to measure objects).

Thanks for the reply. So I will have to annotate the two laser points with two different labels right? Also, I thought by doing the way I did, I could just create a converting factor and calculate the area of the objects just by knowing that the laser is 30 cm and so (x) pixels. Am I wrong?

Yes, you have to annotate the lasers with two point annotations. When you then submit a new "compute area" job, it will take the manual annotations (instead of detecting the points automatically) and run the same calculation you mention. The result will be stored for each image and you will be able to see the size/length of annotations or export these in a report.
