Remember window size and position next time

I've noticed that if I launch an application and then use the screen-snap keystrokes (like Opt-RightArrow or Opt-LeftArrow) the window moves to the position I want. I then close the window using the "X" button.

The next time I run the application, the window doesn't start back in the same position from which I ended the previous session. It starts in a size and position close to where the last one ended, but not snapped into the left or right side.

Anyone know of a setting that might help? Thanks!
