Physical Risk requires access to many (!) data domains. This data spans a continuum from raw data projections (temperature, wind, or general circulation data) to calculated hazard indicators. Simply put, this universe of data is very complex and diverse, making useful data hard to find, understand, consume, share, and trust.

The objective of this issue is to create a categorization of this data which is the first step in addressing the aforementioned challenges. The categorization scheme would become our taxonomy for physical risk data:

  • topics and associated metadata
  • a hierarchy (top levels and drill downs) for the topics
  • a uniform set of tags to simplify navigating and searching for data

High-level use cases for this would include:

  • Physical risk modelling work, by making it easy to use the right data for your model
  • Climate Data Bazaar, as the "marketplace"by making it easy to find the right data for physical risk as well as other purposes (Transition Risk, PCAF etc)

Just to link a couple of related open efforts towards this, in case it's a useful cross-fertilisation:
