To help with time bootstrapping in the rack, we would like to extend chrony so that, in the event of an upstream sync failure, it:

  • does not authoritatively advertise time unless it was at some point synchronised;
  • does not authoritatively advertise time unless the system clock is set later than a configurable date.

Upstream mlichvar/chrony#7 is open for this.
