Currently all the images are in one directory, which contains 1,259. This makes it extremely difficult to find if the image you want already exists. We should come up with some way to categorize images so we can find and reuse them effectively.
I note that there is some kind of naming scheme in place, with three prefixes, bt_ ec_ and sa_. I guess ec_ may mean Eclipse. Not sure what the other's mean.

Indeed images are quite a pain to produce and to update when changes occur somewhere inside them.
Also a snapshot gets taken on a certain operating system (where the windows may look in a certain way) but the user manual is read by people who may run Oxygen on another operating system and the image in the manual may not look identical to what the user sees in the application.
In some more recent discussions about images we took the decision to avoid using them as much as possible in the manual. For example to avoid large images which show an entire toolbar or an entire dialog window and maybe keep only the images which refer to individual toolbar buttons or actions.
