I have an additional request for new Leiden+ regarding abbreviations, prompted by Gonis’ submission for Pylon volume 2: it involves adding support for the element <am>.

<am> is used in EpiDoc markup when the diplomatic transcription of an abbreviation includes material that belongs neither in <abbr> nor <expan>: it is described in EpiDoc guidelines at https://epidoc.stoa.org/gl/latest/trans-abbrevmark.html (see the first example).

<am> is frequently required in abbreviated Latin plurals, e.g., when AUGG abbreviates Aug(usti duo) or dd nn abbreviates d(ominis) n(ostris). The EpiDoc in these case is as follows:

• <abbr>Aug<am>g</am><expan>usti duo</expan></abbr>
• <abbr>d<am>d</am><expan>ominis</expan></abbr> <abbr>n<am>n</am><expan>ostris</expan></abbr>

As far as I know, EpiDoc stylesheets already support this element, and no further development on that front is required for the proper online display (the preview in PN, at least, looks just fine). But we don’t have Leiden+ for it yet, which would be nice to add so that we’re not forced to fudge or compromise on the TEI/EpiDoc xml we are using.
