Two very important works, https://arxiv.org/abs/2212.02517 and https://arxiv.org/abs/2212.02543 propose a method for inferring properties of quantum states using global control. Part of the protocol involves attaching a set of auxiliary qubits. This is deeply related to Analog Quantum Simulation devices.
