Hi @flsimoes @mguidoti @mdoering! I noticed that although sub ranks like suborders, subfamilies and tribes are documented on Plazi these are no reaching Checklistbank.

See:

I'm not sure if this is and export or import issue.

Hi @camiplata

I believe @mdoering and Guido are more suited to answer this

FYI, @mguidoti has not been part of the team for a some years already

Thanks @flsimoes, I was meaning to tag @gsautter.

Markus commented that:

this is because the plazi dwc archives do not make use of parentNameUsageID but use fixed Linnean higher ranks only:

    <field index="3" term="http://rs.tdwg.org/dwc/terms/parentNameUsageID"/> <!-- blank -->
    <field index="4" term="http://rs.tdwg.org/dwc/terms/originalNameUsageID"/> <!-- blank -->
    <field index="5" term="http://rs.tdwg.org/dwc/terms/kingdom"/> <!-- taxon@kingdom -->
    <field index="6" term="http://rs.tdwg.org/dwc/terms/phylum"/> <!-- taxon@phylum -->
    <field index="7" term="http://rs.tdwg.org/dwc/terms/class"/> <!-- taxon@class -->
    <field index="8" term="http://rs.tdwg.org/dwc/terms/order"/> <!-- taxon@order -->
    <field index="9" term="http://rs.tdwg.org/dwc/terms/family"/> <!-- taxon@family -->
    <field index="10" term="http://rs.tdwg.org/dwc/terms/genus"/> <!-- taxon@genus -->

Plazi could use DwC superfamily, subfamily, tribe, subtribe, subgenus, the only one missing is suborder

@gsautter, I would suggest to use the respective coldp terms for missing higher ranks when no dwc one exists.
That way you have super & sub available for all higher ranks, see https://api.checklistbank.org/vocab/term?prefix=col for all coldp terms.

The verbatim, true classification archives would directly use ColDP as I understand. That would be our preferred archive for ingestion anyways, so maybe adding new ranks in the dwc one isn't really needed. Better to get the ColDP ones out sooner

This is very much the plan ... we've been adding the publication provided higher taxa to the treatments since last November and also updated all the older treatments that are in GBIF ... just need to build the ColDP exporter.
