Part of my workflow on gnome is with everything hidden all the time and just 2 windows open on my ultrawide. If i want to open something i tap super, type the name and hit enter in less than a second then position with keyboard/ gestures. If i need to toggle wifi etc i tap super than the top bar shows and i have the normal gnome options.

I have no reason to be requiring anything on any panel unless I'm changing a setting like joining a wifi network which is unlikely to happen more than a few times a year.

Autohide is a pain eg on my laptop where i might accidentally hit the top with the cursor and it covers what i actually want.

Yes i can move the panel to the bottom for example, but i think hotkeys for showing the panel will be useful long term for more users. Ideally it would show when i use other parts of the cosmic UI, eg when i hit super and the launcher UI is shown.
