So you have changed the decrease and increase display brightness keys, from XF86MonBrightnessDown and -Up to something else.
Did it work before you changed this, or do you not remember? :-)
Also does it work when you switch back to the default settings:
Settings -> Input Devices -> Keyboard Shortcuts -> System

My problem is that I don't even have the XF86MonBrightnessDown & XF86MonBrightnessUp keys on my keyboard, but it should still work if I assign other keys to both keyboard shortcuts, but it doesn't work though. That's why I went for the workaround mentioned above.

Changed both to different keys, didn't work. Using a Dell KB522 (but doesn't matter since I changed the default keybindings, right?)
I'm using now custom keyboard shortcuts instead with ddcutil setvcp 10 + 10 for increased & ddcutil setvcp 10 - 10 for decreased brightness.
