Diacritics or Unicode

I was wondering if it is possible to create a mapping in Karabiner for typing diacritics? The part that I have no clue is the diacritic part... should I look up if there's a specific key code for the diacritic and make that the right side of the mapping?

Karabiner would be the ideal solution for setting up a "Compose key" on macOS. The missing link is how to output special characters (e.g. Ō, Ṧ) which do not have a direct mapping on macOS (e.g. é is Alt+e e).
