Speed up the Treefactory at populate stage

Hi,

I have a question about the populating speed of Treefactory. Sometimes, the time for populating is really long whereas sometime it's short. e.g. an example I tried.

I wonder is there a way to cut down the number of trees during the populate stage or make the populate speed faster? I'm using a --use_existing flag?
