Description of the bug

I have a MK4S running firmware version 6.1.4 which is connected to my PC with ethernet through a couple of unmanaged switches. My router is a Nest WiFi Pro. I added a physical printer to PrusaSlicer with the following settings:

  • Host Type: PrusaLink
  • Hostname, IP or URL: prusa-mk4
  • Authorization Type: API key
  • API Key / Password: (the key shown on the printer)

If I click the "Test" button, it says the connection to PrusaLink works correctly, and if I open "prusa-mk4" in a web browser, I get the PrusaLink interface. I am able to drag and drop gcode files into the PrusaLink web interface to send them to my printer, however when I click "Send to printer" in PrusaSlicer, it shows a "RESOLVING ADDRESS" notification followed by

PrusaSlicer has encountered an error

Error uploading to print host: Couldn't resolve host name: Could not resolve host: prusa-mk4 [Error 6]

image

If I reserve a static IP address and enter that instead of "prusa-mk4" in the physical printer configuration, then it correctly sends to the printer.

Using the host name used to work in the past, but the last time I tested it, I was using a different router, older firmware, and an older version of PrusaSlicer, so it's hard to tell which one is causing problems.

Project file & How to reproduce

Print Power Button.zip
config.txt

To reproduce:

  1. Connect a MK4S to the same network as a Windows PC.
  2. Enable PrusaLink on the MK4S.
  3. Add a physical printer to PrusaSlicer, configure it for PrusaLink, and enter the printer's host name (not IP address) and API key.
  4. Slice a model and try to send it to the printer.
