Responsibility
We have recently learned that the use of Axiom on Linode's platform was no longer permissible due to potential repetitional harm and issues for other Linode customers and infrastructure.
However, we are happy to report that after working with Linode, they have agreed to lift the ban on Axiom's use if we provide guidelines and expectations for Axiom users on their platform.
We want to ensure that everyone has a clear understanding of how to use Axiom responsibly and ethically and understand that many of you rely on Linode for hosting Axiom infrastructure and we want to ensure that you can continue to use their platform while following their guidelines.
In order to do so, we kindly ask that you take the following guidelines into consideration:
- When using Axiom, please be mindful of the IP ranges you are scanning. It is very easy to accidentally include a /24 subnet that should not be scanned. Each of the 254 IPs in a /24 subnet will be split between all the instances in your fleet.
- If you do generate any abuse complaints, your account may be suspended or cancelled without prior warning
- We encourage you to double-check your scan parameters and ensure that you are only scanning the IP ranges that you intend to scan.
- We highly recommend that you follow the cloud providers Terms of Service and their guidelines for ethical hacking and bug bounty hunting.
- It is the user's responsibility to ensure that their scans do not generate abuse complaints.
- Do not include any subnets in the scan configuration that you do not have permission to scan.
- If you accidentally include a subnet that you should not have scanned, stop the scan immediately and remove the subnet from the configuration.
- Only use Axiom for legitimate purposes, such as bug bounty hunting or penetration testing, within the allowed scope of the target's bounty program or prior agreement between you and the target.
- Always be mindful of your scans and take responsibility for ensuring that they do not generate abuse complaints.
- Do not use Axiom for any malicious or illegal activities.
- Act responsibly and ethically.
- Follow the cloud providers terms of service and comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Promptly address any abuse complaints they receive.
Violations of the guidelines and expectations may result in immediate termination of your account.
- Axiom developers are not responsible for any consequences that may result from the use of Axiom.
We are grateful for Linode's cooperation in allowing the use of Axiom on their platform with the provided guidelines and expectations. We encourage Axiom users to act responsibly and follow the guidelines to avoid generating abuse complaints and potential consequences.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Thank you for using Axiom and happy scanning!
