Hi, Punnet.
That is nice.
We are already using it here with the Porto Alegre team and I send you any
comments of the users.
Abraço.

The biomes have an official name, and also have synonyms. Right now only *Temperate
Grasslands, Savannas and Shrublands* have the following synonyms:
*savanna*, *veld*, *pampas*. If you know of other synonyms, please send
them to me so I can add them to the db.
One obvious problem is that the synonyms are location-specific, and the
above system cannot distinguish that. For example, *Temperate Grasslands,
Savannas and Shrublands* are known as *savanna* in N America but *pampas*
in Brazil. If someone from Brazil searches for *pampas*, they will get
everything from the *Temperate Grasslands, Savannas and Shrublands* from
all over the world. There is no way to restrict the search colloquially.
Perhaps in the future I can find a way to accomplish this.
Please open an issue here if you find errors in these Zenodeo queries.
Thanks.

I have rebuilt the geodatabase which now includes way more comprehensive coverage (the previous version had a lot of "holes"). As a result, you will get many more image matches now for a given biome or ecoregion. |
