Before the current c9.io offering, there was an open sourced (GPL) version of Cloud9 with a commercial hosting offering. The whole thing was ahead of it's time. Unfortunately, after numerous investment rounds and before Amazon AWS decided to acquire Cloud9, Inc. the development of Cloud9 was shifted from and open-source license to a custom one that prohibits commercial use.
This project tries to keep alive and build upon the version that came before that shift. Welcome to the Wiki of Cloud9 - the open sourced version.
