So, the way I envision this request working, is a user could hit a button and get a modal where they enter a github repo url. The system then checks the repo for the modinfo.json file to see if it's valid. If it is, it loads the repo to the Local Repository list and can configured to check for updates periodically, and, if found give the user the latest repo updates and the option to download the latest version to their local repo.

[Feature Request] Allow user to add Github links for other mods to load to repo
Apr 22, 2024
I thought about this for a while and had an Idea to make a mod manager coupled by a mod registry repository. BN's devs supported the idea but I don't know how it went as later I stopped following their discord. Such a thing would also work for DDA but I'd imagine they won't support the idea in any way since we are a third party application.
The problem with a mod registry is someone has to maintain it. That's been the big struggle and the source of a lot of drama with CKAN, for example. My proposition was more that people could manage their own personal registry, though I could also see value in the registry file being sharable, kinda like a mod pack.
