python chunk with no icon to run the code！！！ #616

when I use ctrl+alt+i, I want to insert an R chunk but the system makes it python chunk as default.I hope you can make it the default for R chunk just like Rstudio.
there is no run code icon in the Python chunk for a new qmd file but there is icon for the R chunk which is wired(in the visual mode )

This is already tracked:

[VS Code] add setting for default language #405

there is no run code icon in the Python chunk for a new qmd file but there is icon for the R chunk which is wired(in the visual mode )

I believe you are using the visual editor (but you did not mentioned it), and issue is known see:

Visual editor in VS Code does not have "Run cell" button for Python cells #485
