I do not have a device that supports DRM, so it would not be possible for me to test that.

Technically DRM is not specific to rpi or anything else. You can test it in a virtual machine, with any distro.

DRM is "direct rendering manager", basically not going though X11/Wayland.

I could look into what this involves later.
I suspect it's not as simple as just changing the define.
