Why is BT creating citation keys "zotero-xxxxx" and how to change this behaviour? (fixed by reinstall)

I noticed that hundreds of my entries in Zotero with linked files have the citation key zotero-xxxxx.

I notice that the entries have some metadata except author name.
I suppose this is the problem?

How to update the citation key to something more... meaningul?
Is there an option to tell Zotero to rename the citation key when the name of the author is added?

That's for you to say - if you see info in the log that you wouldn't want to send off to me, I'd love to know what it is, so that I can structurally strip it from the logs so it never gets to me. The debug log facility helps me enormously in getting problems diagnosed, so I want as little friction for the user in that process as possible, and privacy concerns are an entirely legitimate concern that adds friction.

so how will you send the sanitized log? I can't do anything without an error log.

I reinstalled Zotero and the problem is gone. Now, when I add a name, the citation key gets updated with the name of the author. So happy ending :)
