From what I gather (PyPI scheme: https://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0440/#pre-releases and other similar sources) it would be nice to have major.minor.patch.(a|b)N, so like 4.4.52.b1 or so? with this, it's also possible to publish loads of versions, without incrementing the actual release version until it's ready (4.4.52 in this case) |

Probably a stupid question, but is it possiblt to have a "beta" version distinction somehow embedded in the version number?
From this, it's impossible to tell if it's a beta or release version. Only unchecking the "show beta versions" will remove the version (after first fetching version info or something, so it's not immediate), but it's not very convenient.
