I had had about 3-5 4chan from revisions E and older come back with dead 5V supply or strangely failing 5v supply.

Today's example: When the ECU is powered on after a long time of being powered off, anything powered by 5V will not work on first boot. If you power cycle the ECU, all 5v works fine.

To make sure of repeatability, I disconnected the ECU (from car and laptop), shorted 12v to GND (because I'm thinking some weird capacitor dark magic), plugged it back in. and when I booted it again 5V would be dead. Power cycling without disconnecting anything would fix the issue.

I have had a few other cases where 5V is dead and I only get about 1.37v and strange numbers like those, and I have no idea where to attack except replace (costly)

@ElDominio how many of these can you ship to NJ?

I would love to help but it would require having problematic units locally
