A tomato sauce with butter. And sugar.

- 1 can whole tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, grated
- red pepper flakes to taste
- salt to taste
- fresh basil sprigs
- 1 onion, split in half
- crush tomatoes with potatoe stomper until no big pieces are left, puree a bit, should not be super smooth
- combine oil and butter in pan until butter is melted
- add oregano, garlic and pepper flakes, and pinch of salt, cook for a couple of minutes, don't let it brown
- add tomato, basil, onion halves and sugar, cook for about one hour
- discard onion and basil stems
- season with salt
- put into fridge
