Perhaps I'm missing something, but do you have an easy way to customize the scope being sent to the authenticating application?

If you refer to the scope query param that you use when authenticating, then no, you can't specify your custom scopes in the request. Feel free to open a merge request with the fixes or, alternatively, give me a few days and I'll have a look.
