The start scripts should start the JVM with the UTF-8 parameter.

If this it's not done, than allot of stuff does not work correctly, despite of the fact that for connections the user sets:

 <connection id="my_connection" driver="my_driver">
        encoding=UTF-8

Basically what's needed is in scriptella.bat and scriptella.sh the following addition:

 -Dfile.encoding=UTF8

in the last line.
