I'm using the latest of everything:
Redis version: Redis server v=2.8.17
libhiredis-dev: 0.11.0-2
pyreBloom: 1.0.2

Python 2.7.5+ (default, Feb 27 2014, 19:37:08)
[GCC 4.8.1] on linux2
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.

import pyreBloom
bloom_filter = pyreBloom.pyreBloom(u'foo', 10000, 0.0001)
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

No seg fault happens when the key is a byte string.
