Rust

I would love to learn about Rust.

Some thing that could be covered in a talk about this

• What's going on here?
• Why is it so popular all of a sudden?
• How is it better than my favorite language?

I know only enough to cause headaches, but know fair answers those questions, as well as:

• Why is it worse than my favorite language?
• What is it good / not good for?
• How mature is it (in general, in area x,y,x)?

However, I can't answer the highly technical questions. I saw Dan Callahan from Mozilla talk about it at TCCC, and it was a good talk. We should see if he'd be willing to show up here.
