MPlayer exits with code -1073741819

MPlayer version: sherpya-r38188+g6e1903938b-10-win32
Windows version: Windows 7 32-bit

While trying to play any video file (e.g. by "mplayer.exe some_video.avi" from command line), mplayer seems to open a video file and immediately exits with a code -1073741819 (which, I believe, is 0xC0000005).

What could be a reason of this? Could it be be related to outdated version of DirectX? Or maybe to outdated video drivers?

Just for information, the version of mplayer that comes with SMPlayer (that mplayer version is "Redxii-SVN-r37871-4.9.3 (i686)") works just perfectly.
