We've been deploying small computers for ARTIQ for a while.
Sometimes it is desirable to mount that computer together with the other Sinara modules in the crate.
Here's a model for a 3d printable (STL or FDM) enclosure that allows mounting an Asus NUC 14 PCBA as a 3U/8HP module in a crate. It has its limitations (EMI/EMC, thermal) but may be helpful for some.

  • There could even be an internal power supply solution using the Micro-JR Molex of that PCBA.
  • A proper metal enclosure, or at least a front panel, would be interesting. But given the short cycles of these computers it might not be practical.
  • Classic crate-mountable computers aren't very interesting here for cost reasons and because we don't need the internal connectivity that they aim for.

Interesting. We could even use it in the DIOT crate after moving the PSU to the interface board, freeing 16HP slots.
Such interface board PSU could have 12V Molex connectors to supply extra HW.
