Before opening this kind of issue, please ensure:

  • Are you using a compatible console version? SCPH-101
  • Are you using CD-R media, and not CD-RW? CD-R
  • Did you copy all the files in the expected format to the memory card? Yes

tonyhax version: Which version are you running? v1.4.5

Installation method: How did you get tonyhax on the memory card?

Copied it (tonyhax_scph-101_v4.5_slot2.mcd) over to a PSXMemCard (Bitfunx Version, placed in Slot 2) & renamed to 0.MCR

Entry point game: Which game are you using to launch tonyhax? Wipeout 3 NTSC

Console model: Console product code: SCPH-101

Integrity check: If it boots, does the built-in integrity check succeed? Yes

BIOS version: If you can get to boot, which version of the BIOS does it report? v4.5 5/25/00

Target game: Wipeout 3 (SLUS-008)

Bug explanation:
Please write a detailed explanation on which issue are you experiencing.

I am using "tonyhax_scph-101_v4.5_slot2.mcd". Frequently when loading the game, it gets stuck on the last step at "Starting" upon launching from tonyhax. The fix I found was to hit eject while "Initializing CD" which will show an error and I then close the tray again to restart the kernel. From the limited times I've tested this, it appears to be enough (as a fix) to launch the game. Is there a permanent fix for this?

Super curious does https://github.com/alex-free/tonyhax (Tonyhax international, a fork of Tonyhax) work as expected without this work around? It does something like this automatically without user intervention

Oh wow, I wasn't aware of your fork. Is the original developer of Tonyhax no longer working on this project or are you just taking it in another direction? Regardless, I'll probably try out your version soon.

Just taking another direction with my fork. The original Tonyhax is still active but the author has been busy with other things (as have I recently). I am super curious because I reinitialize the kernel before every CD initialization which in theory should be the same as your workaround but without the need to hit eject.

I'm not sure when I found that helped reading the disc better (the issue is the EXE is not loading off of disc completely successfully, hence the starting freeze).

I've gotten temporarily a second job coding boring stuff, so genuinely the last thing I wanna do in my free time is code anything else. Hence most of my projects (such as tonyhax) are gonna be on long pause.

Ever get around to trying the fork?
