Unclear what order the data is in

I tried straight up creating a backwards stream and writing the data that comes out verbatim. It looks like it emits chunks backwards through the file, but it isn't a character-by-character backwards stream. It would be very helpful to be very clear about how the data is emitted in the readme. This was surprising to me.
