The future of Storeman etc. #290
Comments
@mentaljam, no reply for more than a month is IMO equivalent to a "No", but socially worse ("your mileage may vary", depending on your cultural imprints). But maybe you just did not read it, yet. I would appreciate an explicit {Yes|No} very much! |
Sorry, I have about a hundred of GitHub notifications for which I can't find the time. I understand your feelings. This is really disrespectful on my part regardless the reasons. I'm afraid I have absolutely no abilities to contribute to Storeman in the next 6 or 12 months. |
Thank you for your reply. While I hoped for a different answer, that is sure O.K. and I will prepare another "Future of Storeman" call at FSO. I understand well, that you want / should / ought to care primarily about "real life". |
You still may consider point 2 in the original posting here. |

@mentaljam,
As already stated, "ultimately it is just you and me here at storeman-developers and I will not do any serious C++ or QML coding". I will sure continue to work on packaging, shell scripts, infrastructure and issues at the issue tracker, but with much reduced efforts compared to the past month.
I would really like to know if you assess this to be feasible for you (i.e., to continue working on C++ and QML code, e.g., analysing and maybe addressing issues [Bug] When an installation fails, Storeman endlessly displays "Installing" on the app page #288 & [Bug] Notification indicating a failed app installation is broken #289); as with every assessment, I regard any statement WRT a future commitment to Storeman as preliminary and (hence) non-binding (the same applies to me).
If not, I would / should write another call for support at FSO; this is why "I really would like to know". Edit: Done on 2022-07-14.
As already offered, you might also move your three other apps here: I would add a trivial Sailjail configuration for SFOS 4.4.0 to them, submit them to SailfisOS:Chum and perform "minimal maintenance", i.e., handling issues at the issue tracker, adapt dependencies in the spec file if necessary etc.
