"Received and invalid applicaiton ID null" in remote.js

I was getting this error and I am wondering why or what I messed up. I commented out the res.fail("Invalid applicationId"); statement and the Alexa Tester now works as well as the Testing a Custom Skill on the amazon.com. My skill works fine using Alexa through the Echo device.
