[Safari on iOS] Unable to deselect a balloon by clicking somewhere else in the page #16

On iOS/Safari 12.4, clicking in a blank area of a page doesn't deselect a selected balloon.

How to reproduce:

Go to http://www.docuss.org/docuss/whitep
Click a balloon -> the discussion panel opens
Click somewhere in the left panel (but not on a balloon) -> the discussion panel should close, but instead nothing happens
