(Charge, Discharge, Balancing) Controls not showing up as switches in Homeassistant

Hi,

I have integrated theBMS UART with an ESP32 Devboard through ESPHome in Homeassistant: I have connection to the BMS and getting data, I am however not able to control the Charge, Discharge, Balancing switches.

In the YAML code the entities are declared as binary_sensors:
binary_sensor:

  - platform: jk_bms
    balancing:
      name: "${name} balancing"
    balancing_switch:
      name: "${name} balancing switch"
    charging:
      name: "${name} charging"
    charging_switch:
      name: "${name} charging switch"
    discharging:
      name: "${name} discharging"
    discharging_switch:
      name: "${name} discharging switch"
    dedicated_charger_switch:
      name: "${name} dedicated charger switch"

The above is a copy from the example code in this git repository, and the result is E.g:

and not a control (switch) that I can toggle (on/off)

Then I tried to declare the switches like this, but then the ESPHome will not compile:

What am I doing wrong or missing?

The UART-TTL protocol is read-only if we trust the manufacturer's statement. You have to use BLE to control the Mosfets.

@syssi perhaps you should mention in the README.md also that the UART is actually read-only, I did not know this (until this discussion) and was initially planning to go the UART route. Due to some challenges, I implemented this project using BLE.

It would be interesting to make a change in the UART version code so that when we send the command from the switches it makes a connection via Bluetooth to send only the command, this way we will have the best of both worlds in the esp 32, we will have better communication via cable and sending these commands working when necessary...

@Martyello Did you see the hybrid example? It's already a mixture of both worlds.
