Ah, I just noticed the swipe down option for search! that fixes 50% of what I was looking for :) I think I'm realizing now that the reason gestures are so heavily utilized in this launcher is to keep the main layout as minimal as possible. So you might not be interested in this feature. In case you are, here's a screenshot of my implementation (icons are system defaults and should be updated to nice material ones). Let me know if a pull request would be welcomed or not. |

I'm loving this launcher! The one thing I miss from the default launcher is the search widget that lets me one click into google search with the keyboard open to type a query, or tap microphone to one click launch into Google assistant voice search/command. I used it all the time.
My workaround thus far is to pin Google as a favorite search app but it takes two clicks to open google, then tap the search bar. Voice search from there also isn't assistant, it's a voice entry for a search query. It also defaults to the "discover" tab which is full of distracting news clickbait that I'm trying to avoid with this minimal launcher. I can turn off discover within google but anyway...the workarounds are not 1:1.
Is there another way to get the same functionality that I'm missing? If not, any interest in a minimal implementation of the same feature that can be opted into (off by default)? I'm picturing a small, elegant search icon and a small microphone icon side by side on the bottom center, or vertically stacked on the right side centered vertically (possibly better since long text of home apps might overlap the proposed search icons).
I may be able to submit a pull request if you're open to the idea!
