As we likely will have breaking changes not backwards compatible for v1 we may be able to reach out to the gtk-rs owners to collaborate/ask for a upgrade of glib to >0.2 mitigating the unsound behavior.

We need to figure out

  • if they are willing to update their unmaintained code
  • if they would be open for a contribution to update
  • if they would be open for a collaboration to update
  • if they would be open to transfer ownership(?)
